Be thine own palace, or the world’s thy jail
John Donne born on 21 January 1572–Sun Aquarius, Moon Taurus, (31 March 1631) English poet, satirist, lawyer, and priest (11.2). His style is characterized by abrupt openings, various paradoxes, ironies, dislocations. He wrote secular poems as well as erotic poems and love poems. John Donne is commemorated as a priest in the calendar of the Church of England and in the Calendar of Saints of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on 31 March. Quotes: Death is an ascension to a better library; No man is an island.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

If I were the queen of the daylight, of the wind and the sea, slave ropes I would tie myself for your freedom. Ay sorrow, little sorrow, sorrow… sorrow of my heart that flows inside my veins with the strength of a cyclone. It’s the same as a cloudy spell, of darkness and flint it’s a runaway colt that doesn’t know where it’s going. It’s a desert made of sand -sorrow- it’s my glory in a jail. Ay jail, ay jail, ay sorrow, little sorrow, sorrow! I don’t want flowers, money or cheers, I want they to let me cry your sorrow, and to be by your side, my dear drinking the weeping of your loneliness. My eyes are hurting me because I look without seeing you, I grumble about myself, they are guilty of your bad luck, my April roses. Ay sorrow, little sorrow, sorrow…”

Gospel of Thomas: (13) Jesus said to his disciples, “Compare me to someone and tell me whom I am like.” Simon Peter said to him, “You are like a righteous angel.” Matthew said to him, “You are like a wise philosopher.” Thomas said to him, “Master, my mouth is wholly incapable of saying whom you are like.” Jesus said, “I am not your master. Because you have drunk, you have become intoxicated from the bubbling spring which I have measured out.” And he took him and withdrew and told him three things. When Thomas returned to his companions, they asked him, “What did Jesus say to you?” Thomas said to them, “If I tell you one of the things which he told me, you will pick up stones and throw them at me; a fire will come out of the stones and burn you up.”
